Falken Tires Announces Support for the SCCA Club Spec MX-5 Class
RANCHO CUCAMONGA, CA – Falken Tires is excited to announce support for the new SCCA Club Spec MX-5 (CSX) class. Since starting the relationship with SCCA in 2015 and expanding by becoming the Spec tire in the SSC class, this next move is a logical step into Falken progressing into Grassroots racing.
The CSX class assigns an affordable, multipurpose package for the 2006-2015 Mazda MX-5 (NC Chassis) that combines a street-ready, autocross-capable, and track-appropriate performance that aims to attract new and experienced competitors alike. The performance kit required to participate includes suspension, 17x8 inch wheels with an offset greater than 45 and a minimum weight of 15 pounds, and Falken Azenis RT660 tires in 225/45R17. With these accessible modifications, drivers can participate in multiple motorsports disciplines in the SCCA motorsports realm.
“A do-all-the-things competition class is what SCCA members have been asking for, and Club Spec MX-5 (CSX) delivers,” stated Lee Grimes, SCCA Manager of Partner Relations. “From SCCA revealing the concept in June 2023 to having built cars hit the pavement barely six months later, SCCA members have embraced the fun and versatile class that allows anyone to build a car once and compete in SCCA Solo, Time Trials, Track Night in America, and HillClimbs.”
Grimes continued, “All of the spec upgrades selected for the 2006-’15 NC Mazda MX-5 CSX car needed to be durable and cost-effective, making the Falken Azenis RT660 tire the obvious choice. This is the same tire that performs well in SCCA’s Solo Spec Coupe (SSC) autocross class, and based on early CSX testing and now real-world competition, the Falken rubber has proven itself once again as the go-to solution for a car designed to be ripped around in competition and then driven home on the street.”
“It was great attending the SCCA Solo Nationals this year and getting the opportunity to drive a CSX class demo vehicle along with many other attendees to experience how fun these cars are to drive,” stated Thomas Okihisa, Passenger Car Radial Product Manager for Falken Tires. “Falken is thrilled to expand our partnership with SCCA by supporting the new CSX class with the Azenis RT660 tire.”
