Falken Tires Closes Out ULTRA4 Nationals In Dynamic Fashion With One Championship And Multiple Regional Podiums
DAVIS, OK – The Crossbar Ranch was home to a superb two-day run to the finish for the 2021 Ultra4 season as teams from the Ultra4 Racing West Coast, Northern and Eastern regional series gathered in Davis to compete for National and Regional Championships in their respective classes. Together, Team Falken had four strong representatives who brought home a total of eight podiums, including a National title, two third-place finishes in the 4500 and 4600 classes in the National series, a first and second place in two classes in the Eastern Conference Series, and second place in the Western Conference.
Jon Schaefer of RPM Extreme Racing earned firsts in both the National Series and the Eastern Conference in the 4600 Class. Though he suffered an electrical issue in the National race, he still finished second, taking home enough points to win the title.
“This has been a great year,” Schaefer declared. “My Falken Wildpeak M/T tires were so strong all season. I just regret we had a wiring problem, or else it would have been a win in the final race, but I’m happy with the results, to say the least.”
Oliver Racing’s Jesse Oliver also struggled with mechanical issues in his 4500 Class, but finished with sufficient points to take home third place in the National Series as well as second in the 4500 class of the Eastern Conference.
“We’ve battled all year to get here on the national stage,” Oliver said. “I couldn’t have asked for anything more from my Wildpeaks this season. The tires and the Falken crew have been a great partner with us and their unwavering support has been extremely vital to our success.”
The trend of mechanical issues continued as Brian and Sean McNamara of Poorboy Racing struggled with steering while running the Nationals race. Nevertheless, they finished the Western Conference series in second place and took third in the National Series for the 4600 class.
“My brother and I are so happy with our finishes here at the Crossbar Ranch,” said Brian. “We wanted to finish the Series on top, but it wasn’t our day as the mechanical issues didn’t allow it. But, we’ve had great success with our Wildpeak M/Ts all season; they’ve been awesome. Both Sean and I are extremely grateful for Falken’s incredible products and would not want to run a race on any other tire.”
Finally, Justin Hall of Rockhard Racing made the haul to Davis and earned a third place in the Nationals race in the 4500 class. “I’ve really enjoyed competing in this series the few times I’ve
been able to do so this season,” he noted. “Being able to race events in locations I haven’t been to before has been a thrill. Competing against different drivers and teams has been exciting. As always, the performance of my Wildpeak M/T tires is awesome. I’m so honored to have developed such an incredible partnership with Falken Tires.”
The results delivered more accomplishments for Falken’s Wildpeak off-road line.
“It’s been an incredible weekend,” said Douglas Fletcher, Falken’s Supervisor for Off-Road and Light Truck Motorsports. “The entire Falken Team – drivers, engineers and support crew – did an outstanding job. The teams pulled out eight podiums between the National races and the series finales, and that’s a pretty amazing achievement.
“This has been a fantastic first year for Stan Williams, Falken’s Off-Road Specialist, and me,” Fletcher added. “We’ve built such a strong bond with our drivers and their crews. And it’s very easy for me to say how proud Falken Tires is of the results our teams have delivered this year in Ultra4 Racing, culminating with a National Title for Jon Schaefer, as well as two third-place finishes in the National series. Our Falken teams have done very well.”
The 2022 Ultra4 Racing North America race schedule will begin as usual with the highly anticipated King of the Hammers (KOH) week of events in Johnson Valley, CA, from January 27 to February 5, 2022. Each of the Western, Northern and Eastern Regional Series will host three race events apiece following KOH.
