Falken Tires Excels With Dual 2nd Place Finishes At Two Separate Off-Road Events Represented By Veteran Drivers
ANTIGO, WI / FERNLEY, NV – Veteran Team Falken Driver Cole Mamer took second place in the ProLite Class in the First Round of the 2021 Championship Off-Road Racing series at Antigo Lions (International) Roaring Speedway in Antigo, Wisconsin, this past weekend, while across the country, a second long-term Team Falken Driver, Justin Hall, earned his own second place in the 4500 Class in Round Two of the NorCal Rock Racing event in Fernley, Nevada.
“These two drivers have successfully represented Falken Tires for many years and continue to finish on the podium in off-road events throughout North America,” stated Douglas Fletcher, Falken’s Supervisor, Light Truck and Off-Road Events. “Our Falken Wildpeak line of tires is consistent in delivering performance, capability and strength in these demanding events.”
Mamer, running the Wildpeak A/T3W tire, qualified second, but selected number seven in the driver’s draw when the vehicles lined up for the opening race. Unfortunately, when Mamer started challenging for the lead, he was hit from behind, forcing a pitstop. Once underway, he worked his way from the back to fourth, but was hit a second time requiring a tire change and an end to his first day’s chances.
“It was a bit discouraging on the first day,” Mamer declared, “but on day two, it began a little worse when I started in 14th position. However, by the end of the first lap, I was in ninth, and after two more laps, I was fifth. Three laps left, I was up to third, and when the number 34 truck caught an edge and rolled, I was able to get around him and finished in second, so it turned out to be a good day and I got a little lucky.”
“I would have to say that it was more skill in partnership with his Wildpeaks,” Fletcher added. “Cole’s tires were grabbing red clay by the shovelful and giving him the traction he needed. It was no small effort to go from 14th to 2nd.”
“We are proud to have Cole represent our brand,” added Stanford Williams, Falken’s Motorsports and Event Specialist. “He did some incredible driving despite the challenges.”
Going west into Nevada, Hall finished third in the first heat at the NorCal Rock Racing event, billed as the “most extreme short course racing on the West Coast.” Running on Wildpeak M/T tires, he started third in heat number two and moved to second when the front axle suffered a mechanical problem and he wasn’t able to finish. However, Hall and his team worked hard to repair his vehicle and finished just before the start time for the main event.
“Justin was determined to get to the podium,” Falken’s Stanford Williams insisted.
“I was fortunate to start third and made my way to second by the end of the third lap,” Hall said. “The track had severe dust issues, which hampered visibility, but that wasn’t going to stop me. I was able to maintain my position for the remainder of the race and brought home second.”
“Justin and his Wildpeak M/Ts were simply dialed in for the Main event,” noted Falken’s Douglas Fletcher, “and he truly exhibited his amazing skills behind the wheel.
“It was another great weekend for Falken’s off-road efforts,” he added.
Round 3 of the NorCal Rock Racing Series will take place on July 16, 2021, when the teams return to Fernley, Nevada. The next round of the Championship Off-Road Series is set for June 26-27, 2021, at Crandon International Raceway, Crandon, Wisconsin.
