Falken Tires Takes 2nd Place In Class At M.O.R.E. Slash X Duel In The Desert
BARSTOW, CA – Falken Tires started its 2022 off-road season right this past weekend, with veteran Falken driver Brian McNamara taking second place in the 2000 Class of M.O.R.E. (Mojave Offroad Racing Enthusiasts) Racing’s Slash X Duel in the Desert.
The race took place at the appropriately named Slash X Ranch where more than 110 teams competed in 10 different classes. McNamara and his Falken-sponsored Poor Boy Racing 4696 4WP Jeep earned second in class and 12th overall running the 125-mile race with no issues.
What made McNamara’s strong finish that much more remarkable was the fact that he was competing in a class that ordinarily features purpose-built desert trucks running bigger shocks and higher-powered engines while McNamara’s Jeep was categorized as a rock crawler.
As it turned out, being the only 4x4 in the class gave the Falken driver the advantage he needed. The course featured steep elevation changes though McNamara’s Wildpeak M/T tires kept their grip on the dirt hills and helped him claim second and hold the position for the balance of the race.
“Well, this was a big finish for us,” McNamara exclaimed. “It’s great when we have the equipment we can rely on. We had a few prep items to address on the Jeep before the start, but knowing our tires were solid and flats and traction were not going to be an issue gave us so much more confidence.”
“Brian definitely knew what he was doing,” declared Doug Fletcher, Falken’s Light Truck and Off-Road Events Supervisor. “He had some teams scratching their heads at the line, wondering how he could keep up with their more powerful trucks, but he showed them what he could do when he climbed those hills and just kept going. Our Falken Wildpeak M/T tires played the role they were made for and kept Brian and his Jeep moving all the way to the finish. It was a nice way to spend a Saturday in Barstow.”
The next M.O.R.E event will be the McKenzie’s 250, taking place in Lucerne Valley, CA on April 23, 2022. Three more races will follow, spread out through the remainder of the year, finishing in early December. For additional information, visit moreracing.net.
