Matan Rosenberg Dominates At GRIDLIFE Summer Apex 2025
ELKHART LAKE, WI – Team Falken driver Matan Rosenberg delivered another stellar performance this past GRIDLIFE Summer Apex race at Road America. Rosenberg, piloting his #484 Chevrolet Corvette equipped with Falken Azenis RT660+ tires in the GLTC class, took three out of four race wins at the intimidating four-mile Road America course, resulting in an overall 1st place victory for the event.
Last year, Rosenberg suffered an engine failure at the start of the event and was unable to race the course. Rosenberg tried to refamiliarize himself with the track during Friday’s practice session; however, the session was cut short due to safety concerns following recent incidents involving other vehicles. The grid quickly went into qualifying, and Rosenberg secured a good starting spot to take advantage of a clear, open track to put down fast lap times. Without having to navigate around heavy traffic, Rosenberg qualified in 1st place with a lap time of 1.3 seconds quicker than the runner-up.
The first race started the following morning, and Rosenberg was excited to race with a well-earned front start. With a clean start, he immediately went to work and continued to put down fast laps. Rosenberg earned the new track record with a 2:28.564 and held an eight-second lead before a full-course caution regrouped the field. Matan maintained his position and ended the first race in 1st place.
After a successful first race, Rosenberg knew he needed to maintain pace and drive consistently for the second race. The afternoon threatened rain, and the course experienced on-and-off showers immediately after the GLTC race start. With mixed weather alternating from rain to dry, Rosenberg knew he had to drive cautiously to navigate the unpredictable road conditions and maintain his position. He finished in 1st place in this race but with the third fastest lap time.
The following day, Rosenberg started in third place for the third race based on his performance in the previous race. Anxious to make up position, Rosenberg immediately made an effort to make passes back to the top spot. His faulty ABS slowed him down at turn 8 in the first lap, which caused him to lose several positions. Rosenberg immediately tried to make up for lost position and made another mistake trying to pass on the outside of the carousel, which washed off camber and sent him into the marbles, which caused him to go off track and lose more positions.
Now in 14th place, Rosenberg regained his composure and decided to race consistently. “I knew if I put my head down and drove consistently, I could make some spots back up,” recalled Rosenberg. The significant setback turned into a masterclass performance, as Rosenberg made numerous passes throughout the race, finishing the race in 4th place.
The final race of the event featured the usual inverted starting grid position, and Rosenberg started in seventh. After experiencing the pace from the middle of the field in the previous race, Team Rosenberg planned to be patient for this race to make their way back to the front. The final race proved to be highly competitive, with positions being swapped back and forth among competitors. Rosenberg’s strategy of being patient proved to be worthwhile, and he managed to pick off spots one by one and eventually made his way back into first place. With only a few laps to go, he decided not to take any risks by racing consistent laps, and he took home the third win of the weekend, finishing in 1st place overall.
Matan Rosenberg continues to lead the GLTC class in 1st place overall with 320 points, furthering his lead by 30 points.
“After seeing him go from 14th to 4th place, Matan continues to inspire us with his remarkable performances,” said Gerald Alvarado, Falken Tires’ Supervisor, Passenger Car Motorsports & Events. “We are very fortunate to have him represent Team Falken; he has been an exceptional racer."
The next event will be Circuit Legends, held at Lime Rock Park in Salisbury, Connecticut, from August 15th – 17th, 2025
