Team Falken’s Sean & Brian McNamara Take Third In Combined Class Round At ULTRA4’s El Rey De Las Bajas

SAN FELIPE, MEXICO – Participating in “El Rey de Las Bajas” on Saturday, May 15, Team Falken’s Sean McNamara (Driver) and Brian McNamara (co-driver) earned a spot on the podium at Round 3 of the ULTRA4 Racing Series. This was just the second time the series has visited this destination.
 
In a field that combined Classes 4500, 4600, 4800 and 4900 UTV, the McNamaras ran well. But it wouldn’t be an easy finish. With just three miles to go, the 1987 Jeep Cherokee sat in second place before suddenly suffering a mechanical issue. The team worked quickly to repair it, but the brief delay still dropped the brothers to fourth.
 
“Once back on the track, the McNamaras worked feverishly to catch the vehicles in front of them,” said Doug Fletcher, Falken’s Light Truck and Off-Road Events Supervisor. “Even after catching a penalty, they still managed to work their way into third place. That was some pretty fantastic driving in tough conditions. Their Jeep and our Falken Wildpeak M/Ts all worked together flawlessly.”
 
‘I love it down here,” added Sean McNamara, who comes from a big family of racers. “It’s pretty wide open, but equally treacherous in that you don’t know what’s going to happen at the next turn or rut. We ran well, but some parts don’t like all the dirt we kick up and shake loose, and so, things break. But Brian and I know our way around this Jeep and we got back into the race pretty quickly. We really wanted that podium, and we were able to make it. Falken was right there with us the whole way.”
 
ULTRA4 runs again on June 10 in its North series in Broadview, MT, then June 25 in Pittsburg, TN for the East series. Round 4 of ULTRA4’s West Coast series will take place August 6, at Sturgis, SD for a combined West meets North joint race event.
