Dylan Hughes Wins Formula Drift Orlando

Matt Field Currently 2nd in Driver’s Championship, 3 Team Falken Drivers in Top 6

ORLANDO, FL – This past weekend, in just his third event as a member of Team Falken, Dylan Hughes took the win at Formula Drift’s Round 3 in Orlando. With the first place finish, Hughes moved to fifth in the overall driver championship standings, three spots below Falken teammate Matt Field who sits in second place. Odi Bakchis is close behind in sixth place, with Falken veteran Justin Pawlak currently in 17th.

Hughes looked impressive all weekend. After qualifying sixth on Friday, he carried momentum into Saturday where he defeated teammate Matt Field in the Final Four before taking down Chris Forsberg in the Final Battle. In addition to Hughes earning sixth in qualifying, the rest of Team Falken also positioned themselves well on Friday. Pawlak qualified 7th, Field in 10th, and Bakchis in 12th. While Bakchis and Pawlak were both knocked out in the Top 32 on Saturday, Field and Hughes both represented Falken in the Final Four.

“It was a wet weekend at Orlando Speed World, which forced everyone to really step up their game,” said Gerald Alvarado, Falken’s Supervisor, Passenger Car Motorsports and Events. “Dylan was on a mission, and did an incredible job maintaining control in these conditions. Tires always play a big role in Formula Drift, but inclement weather emphasizes how crucial it is to run quality tires. It was fun to watch Dylan and the entire team battle it out this weekend. We feel the result is a testament to our amazing drivers as well as our Azenis tires.”

“This was a memorable weekend for sure,” said Hughes. “My first season with Team Falken has already been so incredible, and to win my first event only three rounds into the season is amazing. I appreciate the support from all my sponsors and everyone who’s helped me get here, and can’t wait to get after it again in New Jersey a couple weeks from now.”

Formula Drift Round 4 is set for June 9th – 11th at the legendary Old Bridge Township Raceway in Englishtown, New Jersey.
