Falken Tires Scores Three Podiums At Amsoil Championship Off-Road Series Season-Opener

ANTIGO, WI – Team Falken drivers scored a second place and a pair of thirds in the season-opening rounds of the 2022 Amsoil Championship Off-Road Series at Antigo Lions Roaring Raceway this past weekend. Racers competed on a dirt paperclip-styled track and were cheered on by a strong crowd.

The triple-podium results came from the efforts of Trey Gibbs of Murrieta, CA, who earned third in the ProLite race in Round 1, having started in 22nd. He aggressively moved through the pack, taking the last spot that mattered down the final straightaway.

Gibbs did even better during Round 2 when he started 7th and with four laps remaining, jumped into 4th, moving to 3rd the very next circuit, and made a pass to finish second on the final corner.

Finally, Troy Ringelstetter of Poynette, WI, running a Ford in the Stock Truck race, and finishing fourth place in Round 1, came back strong in Round 2, starting on the pole. He maintained the lead for the duration of the race, but got caught up in turn 3 toward the end, dropping to fourth. Determined to get to the podium, he made a pass to 3rd on the final lap and took the position to the finish.

“This was a great weekend of racing, playing before an excited fan base at an incredible facility,” declared Douglas Fletcher, Falken’s Supervisor, Light Truck and Off-Road Events. “Team Falken drivers started the year right getting both championship points and recognition of the toughness of our Wildpeak A/T3W tires.”

“This was worth the haul from Southern California,” stated Gibbs. “I was glad to be a part of this whole weekend, and thanks to Falken’s Wildpeak tires, standing on two podiums. It was a fight for every position, but after the mandatory caution, I knew my truck was really ready to cut through the traffic, which it did.”

“Being from Wisconsin, I had a lot of family, friends and fans cheering me on,” said Ringelstetter, “and that was exactly what I needed to push me to third, especially since I had the lead until the competition got ever so tighter toward the end. One thing I had with me the whole way was my Falken Wildpeaks; they never let up and together, we pushed to the podium.”

“’Never give up’ should become our motto for this season in the Amsoil Champ Off-Road Series,” added Fletcher. “Because it’s certain our drivers and our Falkens won’t.”

Next up on the Championship Off-Road Series tour is the Forest County Potawatomi Brush Run at Crandon International Raceway just three weeks away on June 25-26 in Crandon, WI.
