Falken Tires’ Cole Mamer Caps Off Strong Lucas Oil Off Road Season With One More Podium

Mamer takes 4th place overall in the Pro Lite class championship while Troy Cox returns to competition after recovering from race injuries

SAN BERNARDINO, CA – Team Falken’s Cole Mamer rolled up to Glen Helen Raceway this past weekend ready to take care of business. And that’s exactly what he did, earning third place in Round 9 of the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series’ Pro Lite Class.

Mamer, riding on Wildpeak A/T3Ws as per usual, looked strong in the practice rounds. After running one second faster than his Pro Lite competition, he suffered a rollover during qualifying that forced him to start last in his class. During the first round of the weekend, with his truck repaired, Mamer quickly moved into 3rd place, and despite a black flag that sent him to the back again, he pressed on for a hard-fought third-place finish.

Pleased with his performance in Round 9, Mamer started Round 10 in third, quickly recording the fastest lap of the race. An unfortunate collision sent him to the back of the pack, but in typical Mamer fashion, he fought his way back to second place. However, another collision proved to be too much, ending his chances of grabbing a spot on the podium.

“The last race of the year was eventful to say the least,” Mamer laughed. “It’s an honor to end up with the Fastest Lap Trophy, but some bad luck took us out of the top three in points to finish fourth for the season. I want to extend my gratitude to everyone who supported me this year, especially Team Falken, who really made this season unforgettable. We won some races and took home plenty of fast lap awards, but we’re hungry for more. Tomorrow, we get back to work. We’ll be ready for 2021.”

Returning to competition in the Pro 2 class was Troy Cox, also running on Falken Wildpeak A/T3Ws. Cox was injured earlier in the season at Lucas Oil Speedway, but recovered in time to meet his goal of finishing out the season. He did well in practice dialing his truck in and was competitive in both rounds over the weekend, working up to 6th place in a crowded field during Round 10, until he also succumbed to a collision.

“It was good to be back,” said Cox. “We’ll take what we learned here and prepare over the off-season. Now that I’m healthy again, I know I’ll be back and ready to go in 2021. Falken has given me a ton of support and confidence, so it’ll be huge to have them by my side moving forward.”

Starting later than usual this year, LOORS was able to aggressively move its season along with double- and triple-header race weekends. Competitors had to work harder and faster to prepare their vehicles, but the racing remained solid all season long.

“Falken Tires had a very successful 2020, with Cole and each of our off-road teams running in the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series,” said Jonathon Bradford, Falken’s Manager, Motorsports and Events. “Cole raced his heart out in LOORS, along with a couple other races. He earned fourth place overall in points, and all of us at Falken are proud of his accomplishments.

“The same goes with Troy,” Bradford continued. “We’re so glad to have him back behind the wheel. As a new driver to Team Falken, we were excited to see him run. He finished 7th overall in the series, an impressive feat considering he missed three races as he recuperated."

The Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series is a short-course off-road racing series featuring ten rounds within the U.S., running this season from July to October. There are four professional classes, including Pro Lite and Pro 2. For more information on the 2021 season, visit www.lucasoiloffroad.com.
