Falken Tires’ Cole Mamer Takes First Place In Pro Lite Class At LOORS Short-Course Season-Opener

SAN BERNADINO, CA  Third-year Team Falken driver Cole Mamer delivered another strong performance this past weekend, taking home first place in the Pro Lite Class at Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series’ second round.

The 2020 season debut took place at the highly-popular Glen Helen Raceway in San Bernardino, CA. Mamer took his Ford truck, shod with Falken WILDPEAK A/T3W tires, and successfully qualified first for Round 1. However, electrical gremlins interrupted that run on Saturday, which effectively shut the ignition off. Mamer finished the race by driving with one hand on the wheel and the other holding down the fuse reset for the ignition to keep the truck running.

“That was honestly pretty stressful,” Mamer said at the end of the race. “Thankfully, the team worked probably until after midnight to fix the issue and we came back for Round 2 on Sunday ready to take care of business.”

Mamer showed up on Sunday with his sights set on first place; and he delivered. The day began with Mamer yet again qualifying first, but this time he wasn’t letting anyone else take the lead. When the race began, Mamer quickly pulled away from the group. However, a mandatory competition caution was called on lap seven in an attempt to bunch the trucks. Two laps later, Mamer had already pulled away from the pack once again.

If you tuned in to LOORS’ free livestream on Facebook, you could hear the commentators saying how Mamer’s truck had far more traction and acceleration coming out of the corners throughout the 14-lap race. When all was said and done, he held a four-truck lead over second place.

“That’s the kind of performance we love to see,” said Brandon Barberena, Falken Tires’ Supervisor, Light Truck and Off-Road Events. “Everyone knew Cole showed up with a strong truck this weekend, especially after qualifying first for Round 1. If it weren’t for those unlucky electrical issues, he probably would’ve come home with two trophies.”

Even with the ignition issues from Round 1, Mamer somehow managed to set a lap record, gaining additional points toward the overall championship along the way.

“Hey, I’ll take points any way I can get ‘em,” Mamer laughed. “It’s great to be back on the West Coast, racing at an awesome track like Glen Helen. The Wildpeaks were perfect, as always. That level of grip definitely gave me an edge throughout the course.”

The next LOORS race is scheduled for August 21-22, at Lucas Oil Speedway, Wheatland, MO, for Rounds 3 and 4.
