Falken Tires Wraps Up Wet Bark River Rumble With A Win And Two Thirds For Amsoil Off-Road Champ Rounds 9 And 10
BARK RIVER, MI – Two of Falken Tires’ strongest contenders in the Amsoil Off-Road Championship continued their points runs at the Island Resort and Casino Off-Road Rumble this past weekend. Trey Gibbs grabbed a win and a third place in the Pro Lite class, and TJ Ewert took third in Stock Truck during a wet weekend at Bark River International Raceway in Michigan.
Ewert started Round 9 in 6th place in the Stock Truck Class during a rainy and muddy day, but managed to move to third with his Falken Wildpeak M/T tires holding on tightly to the track’s surface, which is where he finished. At this point, Ewert currently sits in third place for the series championship, just 12 points behind second.
“I have some points to catch up, but I’m confident I can do well at the series final in Crandon,” Ewert stated.
Gibbs flew in from Las Vegas where he had just run a challenging Las Vegas to Reno race suffering mechanical issues, but was ready for Round 9 at Bark River. Despite starting from the rear, he took his Pro Lite entry – shod with Falken Wildpeak A/T3W tires – through the deep mud and finished third.
“I was pretty amazed with that finish,” Gibbs exclaimed, “especially since I had never seen this track before. I was a little disappointed about my performance in the Vegas to Reno race, but getting third in Round 9 here really gave my team and me a tremendous boost.”
That boost paid off even more the next day when Gibbs started the Pro Lite Round 10 race in third position, and though he was quickly pushed to fifth, several accidents and spin-outs put him back in third. With the first and second place drivers banging doors, both trucks went off-course, and Gibbs immediately jumped into first, holding that spot to the finish.
“And just like that, we took the win the very next day,” Gibbs added. “Great outcome; great to be here. So glad my Falken Wildpeak A/T3W tires carried me to victory lane.”
“What a couple of days of racing Team Falken experienced,” said Eric Carlos, Falken Specialist for the Off-Road and Light Truck racing teams. “The rain and a slippery track made it hard to manage for the drivers, but they and our Wildpeak M/T AND A/T3W tires got the job done.”
“We are very proud of Team Falken’s efforts on this slick, muddy track,” said Doug Fletcher, Falken’s Supervisor, Light Truck and Off-Road Motorsports. “The teams keep winning week after week. TJ, Trey and Jimmy Henderson are all in pursuit of championship series titles for their respective classes and we support them, as well as all our other Team Falken entries, every move, every round, every step of the way.
“We’re all looking forward to Crandon next month where everything will be decided,” Fletcher noted.
The final round of the 2022 Amsoil Championship Off-Road season is set at picturesque Crandon International Raceway in Crandon, WI, September 2-3, 2022.
