Team Falken Earns 3rd Place In Formula Drift Round 2 At Road Atlanta
Matt Field finishes third, Aurimas “Odi” Bakchis comes in fourth
BRASELTON, GA – Competing before a packed track, Team Falken’s Matt Field – based on his #1 qualifying position – earned third place in Formula Drift’s Round 2 “Road to the Championship” at the legendary Road Atlanta.
Field had a formidable car all night and qualified top in the field. Teammates
Aurimas “Odi” Bakchis was 7th, followed by new team member Dylan Hughes in 13th, and Justin Pawlak in 14th. A tough grid knocked out Hughes and Pawlak by the Top 16, but Field and Bakchis powered their ways to the Top 4, where both went down. By the strength of his qualifying, Field was awarded third, with Bakchis receiving points for fourth.
“Road Atlanta, which has been on the Formula D schedule since 2004 and a consistent fan favorite, was just a fantastic event,” said Gerald Alvarado, Falken’s Supervisor, Passenger Car Motorsports and Events. “Competition is always so close in our series that it takes one small advantage to get you on the podium. Fortunately, for Falken, it’s our Azenis tires, which are always ready to perform and keep our drivers ahead.”
“We’re on the right path, continuing our momentum,” added Field. “Staying on the podium keeps us in the points and that’s where we need to be as we continue during this busy part of the season. It was a good night, but I’m still looking for it to get better.”
Round 3 will occur in less than two weeks when Team Falken moves to Orlando Speed World May 19-21 for Formula Drift’s “Scorched” Run.
