Falken Tires Dominates With Six Podiums At Amsoil Off-Road Championship Rounds 7 And 8

LENA, WI – It was another strong team effort as Falken Tires’ Off-Road Motorsports competitors made the short move last weekend to the Amsoil Championship Dirt City Motorplex Off-Road National in Wisconsin and captured six podiums over two rounds of racing. All Falken drivers ran Wildpeak A/T3W tires.

For Round 7 on Saturday, Falken Driver TJ Ewert started the Stock Truck Class race having qualified third. However, by the end of lap one, he was in first place, leading to the competition caution by seven truck lengths. After the restart, he smoothly jumped back into a seven-truck lead and finished in first.

In the Pro Lite class, Trey Gibbs led most of the race after qualifying third on the pole. Trey had to overcome an accident by other drivers and an over-rotation that dropped him to fifth, but worked his way back to take third by the end.

In Pro 4, Falken veteran Cole Mamer finally caught a break through the inversion placement following qualifying and started on the pole. Falken teammate Jimmy Henderson started 5th. Mamer led the race to the competition yellow while Henderson dropped to 7th due to traffic. With three laps left, Mamer’s truck started overheating and he dropped a spot while Henderson worked himself to third. Mamer nursed his truck to second to end the race, but Henderson finished 4th.

“I’m so happy to get this podium after the tough rookie year we’re having,” said Cole Mamer. “Falken has stuck by me with the change to Pro 4 and my Wildpeak A/T3W tires seem to always be hooking up. Now that we’ve worked out most of the bugs from this new truck, we look forward to success the rest of this year.”

Sunday brought Round 8, with TJ Ewert on the pole in Stock Truck. He led the race to the required caution. TJ was able to maintain first place and led through the end of the race. Ewert was able to sweep both races this year, and last year he started his chase for the points lead here after sweeping both races again.

“This was so rewarding to me,” Ewert said. “Not so much because we repeated, but because we really dominated the two races. My Falken Wildpeak A/T3W tires were hooked up and the truck ran flawlessly. Everything really worked in our team’s and Team Falken’s favor.”

Gibbs started the Pro Lite race in 3rd, though an accident quickly brought the field to a full stop. With no injuries, the caution was brief and Gibbs grabbed second upon restart, moving to first with three laps left and holding onto the position for his first win in his rookie season.

“Wow, I’m so pumped after this weekend,” Gibbs said. “Two podiums for my team and Falken, and best of all, my first victory. I’m so glad to be a part of Team Falken – our Wildpeak A/T3W tires were a big part of that win!”

Sunday’s Round in Pro 4 was Henderson’s time to shine. Mamer suffered trouble during the race but Henderson, who started in 5th and struggled for most of the race, finally passed two competitors to earn the third spot on the podium at the end.

“It was a good weekend for Falken,” Henderson said. “Both Cole and I earned a podium in our Pro 4 Class, which is made up of a very competitive group of drivers. Our advantage is always going to be our Falken Wildpeak A/T3W tires. We definitely could feel their strength working through the dirt at this racetrack.”

“We could not be happier with our teams’ performances this weekend,” noted Eric Carlos, Falken Specialist for the Off-Road and Light Truck racing teams. “Three first-place finishes, one second and two thirds. Clearly, our Wildpeak A/T3W tires shined through the dirt in Dirt City this weekend.”

“I’m in complete agreement with Eric, and am thrilled that Cole got onto the podium after the tough year he’s experienced,” added Doug Fletcher, Falken’s Supervisor, Light Truck and Off Road Motorsports. “He’s been battling some new truck blues, but it looks like he’s starting to bring it all together. Trey has been on the podium before, but being his rookie year, getting a win was incredible,” Fletcher continued. “All of us at Falken are really pleased with his performance. And what can we say about TJ? He seems to own this track, sweeping both last year and now this weekend. Couple that with Jimmy’s podium success and Falken is having a good year. Of course, we want all our drivers to grab the top podium before the season’s end.”

The next Amsoil Championship Off-Road event again is just two weeks away when teams head to the Bark River International Raceway in Bark River, MI, August 13-14, 2022, for the Island Resort and Casino Off-Road Rumble.
