Falken Tires Hits Midwest In Mid-July With Multiple Podiums From Amsoil Off-Road Championship Rounds
ELK RIVER, MN – Falken Tires’ Off-Road Motorsports team charged into the ERX Motor Park in Elk River, MN, for Rounds 5 and 6 of the Amsoil Championship series and took home four podiums over the two-day event. Fans filled the park for the mid-July races and were treated to a full field of competitors in every class, including a strong contingent of Falken-shod entries.
Starting on Friday, Falken Driver TJ Ewert, who qualified 6th in the Stock Truck Class, started 5th as the flag dropped when the truck in front wouldn’t start. He quickly moved to 4th and by the last lap, added two more positions to finish the race in second. Ewert ran all weekend on Falken Wildpeak A/T3W tires.
In the Pro4 Truck Class, Falken Driver Jimmy Henderson qualified 8th in Round 5. During the race, Henderson was dodging other competitors until he got into the bypass lane and moved into a top-three position, trading paint with the eventual winner before taking that third-place podium. Henderson also ran on Falken Wildpeak A/T3W tires, and sits in fifth overall based on points in his class.
Saturday was Round 6 and Ewert started in the second spot, though at the drop of the green, got tangled with two other trucks and dropped to fourth. He jumped to third with two laps to go and claimed that spot at the finish. Ewert is currently third in overall points in the Stock Truck Class.
A third Falken driver, Trey Gibbs, started on pole in the Pro Lite Class on Saturday and led for four laps until he got knocked to second by a competitor. He continued to fight for his position throughout the rest of the race and remained in second. His vehicle wore Falken Wildpeak A/T3W tires as well, and Gibbs sits in third overall in Pro Lite Class points.
“A great two days of action,” said Doug Fletcher, Falken’s Supervisor, Light Truck and Off-Road Events. “The racing was fierce. Drivers would not let up for anything, fighting for every inch of space. TJ, Jimmy and Trey were tough, as were our Falken Wildpeak A/T3W tires. None of them ever gave up and we came home with four podiums. It’s always a good weekend when our teams can do that.”
The next Amsoil Championship Off-Road event is less than two weeks away in Lena, WI, when it will be time for the Dirt City Motorplex Off-Road National, July 30-31, 2022.
