Team Falken’s Matt Field Takes 2nd At Formula Drift Evergreen Throwdown And Builds Championship Lead
MONROE, WA – Team Falken driver Matt Field successfully increased his lead in the 2022 Formula Drift Driver’s Championship following his second-place finish at Evergreen Speedway’s “Throwdown,” Round 6, Saturday night.
Field, who qualified fourth at Evergreen, extended his points advantage to 56 over second place. His Corvette ran on Falken Azenis tires, as did his three Falken teammates, Dylan Hughes, who qualified 5th; Justin Pawlak, 13th; and Aurimas “Odi” Bakchis, 29th.
“Regrettably, our Falken team all started on the same side of the bracket and faced each other until the finals,” noted Gerald Alvarado, Falken’s Supervisor, Passenger Car Motorsports and Events. “However, Matt was on a tear and he moved into the final with a strong determination to finish on top. He may not have won the round, but he’s still first in the championship and at the end of the night, that becomes equally important.”
“I was testing my luck as much as pushing my skill,” said Field. “The car ran well and my Azenis tires were perfect all night. I was just focused on keeping control of the championship; that was my goal, and of course, my hope. So, we came away from Monroe feeling cautiously optimistic with two rounds left.”
“It was another good result for Team Falken,” added Alvarado. “It’s also great that Falken continues to lead the Tire Manufacturer’s Cup.”
After Field, current points standings for Team Falken drivers list Hughes in 6th; Bakchis in 8th; and Pawlak, 14th.
Team Falken now travels to the Utah Motorsports Campus to get “Elevated” for Round 7 in Grantsville, UT (35 minutes outside Salt Lake City), September 15-17.
